Hear my voice, God, as I lay out my complaint. Guard my life from the terror of my enemy.

Hide me from the secret scheming of the corrupt, from the mob of those who do harm.

They sharpen their tongues like swords, aim their bitter words like arrows,

shooting at the innocent from hidden positions, firing suddenly, without any fear of being caught.

They encourage each other in their evil plans, talk about where to set their traps. They say, "Who will ever see us?"

They devise their injustices and say, "We have perfected our scheme." The inner thoughts of a person run deep indeed.

But God will shoot his arrow at them; suddenly, they will be struck down.

Their own tongues will be turned against them; everyone who sees them will shake their heads.

Then everyone will stand in awe; they will tell what God has done and reflect deeply on his work.

The just will find joy in Yahweh and take shelter in him; all the upright in heart will celebrate.
