For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song. Silent praise waits for you, God, in Zion, and to you our promises will be kept.

You who hear prayer — to you all people will come.

When our failures overwhelmed us, you covered over all our wrongs.

Life is good for those you choose and bring close to live in your courts. Let us be filled with the goodness of your house, the temple that belongs to you.

With awe-inspiring acts of justice you answer us, God of our rescue, you who are the hope of all the ends of the earth and the farthest seas.

You formed the mountains by your strength, wrapped in power,

you who still the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of nations.

Those who live at the farthest edges of the earth stand in awe of your signs. From where the morning rises to where the evening falls, you draw out shouts of joy.

You care for the land and drench it, you enrich it beyond measure. God's river brims with water; you prepare the grain for the people, because this is how you designed things to work.

You soak its furrows, you level its ridges, you soften it with showers and you make what grows there flourish.

You crown the year with your generosity, and your paths overflow with richness.

The wild pastures overflow, and the hills wrap themselves in celebration.

The meadows are dressed in flocks, the valleys are blanketed with grain — they shout for joy, they break into song.
