On that day a spring will be opened for David's family and for everyone living in Jerusalem, to wash away their failure and their uncleanness.

On that day, says Yahweh who commands armies, I will wipe the names of the carved gods off the land, and no one will remember them again. I will also drive the prophets and the unclean spirit out of the land.

If anyone still prophesies, his own father and mother, the two who gave him life, will say to him, "You will not live, because you have spoken lies in Yahweh's name." And when he prophesies, his father and mother, the two who gave him life, will run him through.

On that day every prophet will be ashamed of the vision he saw when he prophesied. They will stop putting on the coat of coarse hair they wore to fool people.

He will say, "I am not a prophet. I work the soil. Someone bought me as a field hand when I was a boy."

And someone will ask him, "Then what are these wounds across your chest?" He will answer, "I got them in the house of the ones who loved me."

Sword, wake against my shepherd, against the man who stands beside me, says Yahweh who commands armies. Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter, and I will turn my hand against the small ones.

In the whole land, says Yahweh, two parts of the people will be cut down and die, and a third will be left standing.

I will bring that third through the fire. I will refine them the way a metalworker refines silver, and test them the way he tests gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them. I will say, "They are my people," and they will say, "Yahweh is my God."
