Then I looked, and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were one hundred forty-four thousand people who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

And I heard a sound from the sky like the roar of massive waterfalls and like the crack of powerful thunder. The sound I heard was like musicians playing their harps —

and they were singing what sounded like a new song in front of the throne and in front of the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn this song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who had been purchased from the earth.

These are the ones who have not corrupted themselves with sexual immorality — they kept themselves faithful. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among humanity as an offering of the first harvest to God and to the Lamb.

No lie was found on their lips — they are without fault.

Then I saw another angel flying high overhead, carrying an eternal message of good news to announce to everyone living on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language, and people.

He called out in a loud voice, "Honor God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has arrived. Worship the one who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and the springs of water."

A second angel followed, saying, "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the great — the one who made all the nations drink the wine of her maddening sexual immorality."

A third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives a mark on their forehead or on their hand,

that person will also drink the wine of God's fierce anger, poured at full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of God's own messengers and in the presence of the Lamb.

The smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no relief, day or night, for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name."

This calls for patient endurance from God's people, who keep God's commands and hold on to their trust in Jesus.

Then I heard a voice from the sky say, "Write this: Life is good for the dead who die belonging to the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Breath, "they will rest from their hard work, because what they have done goes with them."

Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was someone who looked like a son of man, with a gold crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand.

Then another angel came out of the temple, calling in a loud voice to the one sitting on the cloud, "Swing your sickle and harvest, because the time to harvest has come — the earth's crop is fully ripe."

So the one sitting on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested.

Then another angel came out of the temple in the sky, and he also had a sharp sickle.

Still another angel, who had authority over fire, came from the altar and called out in a loud voice to the one holding the sharp sickle, "Swing your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth's vine, because its grapes are fully ripe."

So the angel swung his sickle over the earth, gathered the grapes from the earth's vine, and threw them into the great winepress of God's fierce anger.

The grapes were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed from the press as high as a horse's bridle for about one hundred eighty miles.
