Jeduthun headed one of the three families David appointed to lead music at the sanctuary, and several psalm headings assign songs to these guilds the way a modern score is assigned to a particular ensemble. The image of weighing people on a balance comes from the merchant's scale used in every marketplace, and Egyptian religion pictured the dead being weighed in exactly this way, so the metaphor would have landed immediately. The warning against trusting extortion and robbery points at how fortunes were actually built in that economy, through seizing land from debtors and squeezing the poor at court.
