A psalm of David. Yahweh, hear my prayer. Listen to my cry for help. In your faithfulness, answer me — in your justice.

Don't put your servant on trial — no one alive is in the right before you.

The enemy has hunted me down, crushed my life into the dirt. He's forced me to live in darkness like those long dead.

My spirit is fading inside me. My heart is numb with horror.

I remember the ancient days. I think about everything you've done — I go over the work of your hands again and again.

I stretch out my hands to you. My whole being thirsts for you like cracked, dry ground.

Answer me quickly, Yahweh — my spirit is giving out. Don't hide your face from me or I'll be like those going down to the grave.

Let me hear your faithful love in the morning — I've put my trust in you. Show me which way to walk because I've lifted my whole being to you.

Rescue me from my enemies, Yahweh — I've run to you for cover.

Teach me to do what is good in your eyes — you are my God. Let your good Breath lead me on level ground.

For the sake of your name, Yahweh, let me live. In your justice, pull me out of this trouble.

And in your faithful love, silence my enemies. Destroy everyone who threatens my life — because I am your servant.
