The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza:

This is what Yahweh says: "Look — waters are rising from the north, and they will become a flooding torrent. They will flood the land and everything in it, the city and everyone who lives there. People will cry out, every inhabitant of the land will wail —

at the sound of the pounding hooves of his warhorses, at the rumble of his chariots, the roar of his wheels. Fathers will not turn back for their children — their hands will hang limp with dread —

because of the day that is coming to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every surviving ally. For Yahweh is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.

Baldness has come upon Gaza. Ashkelon is silenced — the last of their valley. How long will you gash yourself?
