Yahweh, you are my God. I will lift you high, I will praise your name — because you have done incredible things, plans laid out long ago, faithful and sure.

Because you have turned a city into a pile of rubble, a fortified town into ruins. The foreigners' stronghold is a city no more — it will never be rebuilt.

So the ruthless nations will honor you, the cities of violent peoples will stand in awe of you.

Because you have been a shelter for the vulnerable, a shelter for the poor in their distress, a refuge from the storm, shade from the heat. When the breath of the ruthless is like a winter storm against a wall,

like heat in a dry land, you silence the uproar of foreigners. As shade from a cloud cools the heat, so the victory song of the ruthless is hushed.

On this mountain, Yahweh of angel armies will prepare a feast for all peoples — a banquet of rich food, a banquet of aged wines, the finest cuts, the purest vintages.

And on this mountain he will destroy the shroud that covers all peoples, the veil spread over all nations.

He will swallow up death — forever. The Lord Yahweh will wipe away tears from every face. He will remove the disgrace of his people from the whole earth. Yahweh has spoken.

And on that day it will be said: "Look — this is our God! We waited for him, and he rescued us. This is Yahweh! We waited for him. Let us burst with joy and celebrate his rescue!"

For Yahweh's hand will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be trampled down where it stands, like straw crushed into a manure pile.

They will spread out their hands in it like a swimmer spreading hands to swim — but Yahweh will bring down their pride along with the skill of their hands.

The high walls of your fortress — he will bring them down, lay them low, throw them to the ground, into the dust.
